I know it's been awhile, but I have a pretty good reason. I ended up switching my blog over to Wordpress. Since Vox doesn't export posts, I had to manually copy over every post to the new blog. I didn't want to keep posting over here since that would mean more to copy!
Anyways, I hope you'll continue reading over at my new digs (anyone? anyone?).
Just One More Row...

Have a happy, healthy 2009 and Happy Holidays!
I just realized I am no longer obliged to post once a week anymore. The Fall Swap is over (sad!) and so is the blogging requirement. I really hope I don't begin slacking, but I don't think I will. Once a week is reasonable, as long as I keep up the knitting progress!
Pattern: Oliver's Cap
Source: Seamen's Church Institute
Yarn: Valley Yarns Northampton (partial skein) in Fawn
Needles: US 8 DPNs
Mods: None
Notes: A very quick and easy knit, super generic. Definitely a go-to pattern, and free to boot!
If you can believe it, I finished something else, a Christmas gift even! Shocking! My brother requested a scarf in his high school's colors. I despise knitting stockinette scarfs (so boring) but I wanted something quick, so I decided to try knitting it garter stitch, length-wise on a large circular needle. My first pattern!
Pattern: My Own!
Yarn: Cascade 220 in Navy and Gray (2 skeins of each)
Needles: US 15 on a very large circular needle (I didn't measure since I used my Denise needles.)
Notes: Here's the pattern, very basic!
Basic Striped Scarf
Holding 2 stands together, CO 180 stitches.
Knit 5 rows of navy.
Knit 3 rows of gray.
Knit 4 rows of navy.
Knit 3 rows of gray.
Knit 5 rows of navy.
BO!
Yes, I feel accomplished. Go me! Now I just need to figure out what's next on the never-ending knitting queue.
Oh, Vox has been driving me crazy lately. The whole interface is frustrating, it'll suddenly not let me edit text or delete a picture. I want to switch over to another blogging site. Any recommendations?
Sorry readers, but I was kinda involved with this for awhile.
I made those ears last night while watching TV. They were wicked easy! I picked up some felt at the mall, and whip stitched them together. I added some of my jewelry wire for stability and wired them onto a headband. I was finished with the whole costume by 9!
There are tons of kids running around work today, a lot of the women brought them in to trick-or-treat around our cubicles. Of course, this is the one day I have a TON of work and strapped to my desk. Oh well!
In knitting news, I highly doubt I'll be able to finish the entire foot of the second sock by tonight for Socktoberfest. I don't really feel bad since I know I'll be able to finish it by next week. It's a miracle I finished a pair of socks in 6 weeks!
I just realized I never posted the pictures of my awesome Falling for Ewe 2nd package.
That's because I actually finished a sock that fits me. And it only took me weeks, not years.
I just blew $80 on yarn. On four absolutely gorgeous skeins of sock yarn. I totally justified this purchase two ways:
1) Today's pay day!
2) I just may be able to give up one or two skeins to send to my swap pal. We'll see.
Pretty picture post to come soon! ;o)
I'm taking advantage of this warm Sunday evening to knit on Dave's Turn a Square hat (while he's not around!) and watch some Amazing Race reruns. I'm totally getting excited for the new season which starts tonight! The Amazing Race is one reality show which doesn't get old, plus it's the one show my Mom and I try to watch together. Usually we TiVo everything, so it's definitely not a normal thing for us!
I might as well answer the Falling for Ewe Swap Question #3:
What meals or foods mean ‘Fall’ to you?
I just got back from the Big E, a huge New England fair in the next city over from me. There's SO much food that it's near impossible to eat everything you want to! I actually went twice this year, and I still didn't get a chance to buy the fried oreos I've been thinking about all year! :)
Since the fair always takes place at the beginning of Autumn, there's a lot of food that gets me excited about fall. I love the loaded baked potatoes in the Maine building, the Del's Lemonade in Rhode Island, everything maple from Vermont, fried mushrooms, friend dough... everything fried! Yum!
The other thing I absolutely love about Autumn is Pumpkin Spice coffee, especially from Green Mountain Coffee Roasters. Sooo good, especially on a chilly morning going to work!
